This mug/cup is based off one of my aunt's coffee cups that I've always liked. It's a square shape with a small handle, and was shaped using the pinch-pot technique. The form is a cube without a top. The texture of rough; the sides aren't smoothed or sanded, and the pinch-pot technique makes for a bumpy surface.
There wasn't much thought that went into this cup, besides that I wanted it to be able to hold something, maybe even a liquid if it was fired. I did want to reflect my aunt's cup, though. Even if the cup isn't exactly what I envisioned, I do still like it because I made it in thirty minutes. It also works; I was surprised the handle didn't break once it was bone dry. |
